Natural killer activity of normal human peripheral blood lymphocytes. I. Inhibitory effect of ammonium chloride solution.
نویسندگان
چکیده
The inhibitory effect of ammonium choride pretreatment of human peripheral blood lymphocytes on natural killer (NK) activity to myeloid leukemic cell line K-562 was studied. The more dilute the ammonium chloride solution, the less was the inhibitory effect on NK activity. This inhibitory effect was weaker when effector cells were treated at 4° C than at 37° C. Inhibited NK activity recovered partially after incubation for 24 hours.

Natural killer (NK) activity of normal human peripheral blood lymphocytes against erythroleukemic cell line K 562.
Human peripheral blood lymphocytes of healthy donors showed significant levels of natural killer (NK) activity against erythroleukemic cell line K 562 in 3-hour 51Cr release assays. The levels of NK activity showed much individual variation, which was considered to be an individual trait that varied little under physiological conditions. The NK activity of mononuclear leukocytes from cord blood...
متن کاملThe Influence of Iron Loading and Iron Chelation on the Proliferation and Telomerase Activity of Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells
Background: Iron is an essential trace element in cell proliferation. Several investigations demonstrate that iron deprivation inhibits cell proliferation. However, the impact of iron on telomerase activity of activated lymphocytes remains unexplained to date. Objective: In this study, the effect of iron on the proliferation and telomerase activity of lymphocytes stimulated by phytohemagglutini...

Natural Killer (NK) cells are the main lymphocyte population expressing P75 B chain of the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R). Consequently, incubation of peripheral blood lymphocytes with IL-2 induce selective activation of NK cells and results in NK activity and generation of Lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cells activity and proliferation. One of the early events during IL-2 activation of peripheral bl...
متن کاملSelective inhibition by alcohol and cortisol of natural killer cell activity of lymphocytes from cord blood.
1. The immunosuppressive effects of drugs such as alcohol or hormones such as cortisol may be age-related. To test this hypothesis, the authors investigated the in vitro effects of ethanol (EtOH) and cortisol on Natural Killer (NK) cell activity of lymphocytes from normal cord blood in comparison with that of lymphocytes from normal adult peripheral blood. 2. K562, an erythroleukemia cell line,...
متن کاملSuppression of natural killer cell activity by surgical stress in cancer patients and the underlying mechanisms.
The influence of surgical stress on the natural killer (NK) activity of peripheral blood lymphocytes in patients with carcinoma of the lung or gastrointestinal system was studied. The peripheral blood lymphocytes of the patients showed a marked decrease in NK activity against K-562 cells as target cells 1-2 days after surgery. The activity remained lowered for 2 weeks after thoractomy and for 1...
